   We Need Your Help!

The problems of the world, even the problems of our community, can seem overwhelming.  You may feel that they are so vast that you can’t possibly make a difference.  But the wisdom of Mother Teresa tells us otherwise:  If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one.

People turn to Catholic Charities of Onondaga County everyday for help with basic everyday needs for their children, like diapers, formula, and food.  They call us or even come to our doors to ask for these essentials.  We are always happy to do what we can, but we need your help to help those who count on us.  We served 30,000 people in Central New York last year, and the need is growing.

If you can help, even in a small way, please send your check with the word diapers, formula, or food pantry on the memo line to:

25th Anniversary
House of Providence Dinner
Sets Attendance Record



 

The 25th Anniversary House of Providence Dinner, held on May 19, 2010, was a great success with record setting attendance.  Almost 800 attendees filled Exhibit Hall A at The Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at Oncenter to celebrate the accomplishments of the evening’s three honorees, as well as to highlight the work of Catholic Charities of Onondaga County in the Central New York community.

The President’s Medallion was presented to Betsy Hartnett for her dedication to lending her expertise and enthusiasm in law and financial management to local charities.  Father Fred Mannara, pastor of Most Holy Rosary Church, received the Bishop’s Medallion for his devotion to serving the people of the Diocese and for his commitment to parishioners.  The Humanitarian Service Medallion was awarded to Joe Tesori for his work in the community, most notably his commitment to youth and to volunteering at Francis House.

The festivities included the debut of Catholic Charities of Onondaga County’s new video, By the Work of Our Hands, which features moving interviews with several of our staff members as well as many wonderful photos of our clients.
