Refugee Resettlement  
 

Program Description
Resettles refugees
from countries in distress as an affiliate of the United States Catholic Conference. Resettlement activities include preparing apartments, linkage to services and education, job development and case management.

Support Services Provided
Case management, mental health and family support services
, orientation to local community and culture. Bilingual staff (Spanish, German, Vietnamese, Hmong, Serbo-Croation, Albanian,
Arabic and other languages).

Eligibility
Individuals eligible for resettlement receive refugee status through U.S. State Department. All must be sponsored through United States Catholic Conference. Refugee groups currently include Vietnamese, Bosnian, Cuban, Armenian, Ukrainian, Somali and Hmong refugees.

Refugee Youth Outreach Project  
 

Program Description
Provides integrated
recreational opportunities, tutoring, homework assistance and other supports to refugee children.

Support Services Provided
Works closely with
Southeast Asian Youth and Family Support Program.

Eligibility
Refugee youth, ages 3-18 and their families. Primarily serves Northside residents.

Abstinence Programs

Youth Engaged in Service for Success (YESS)
 
 

Program Description
YESS is a teen pregnancy prevention
program for youth. Youth participate in community service projects and workshops on sexual health, asset building, leadership, career development and other topics.

Support Services Provided
Referral
to other services as needed.

Eligibility
Youth, both boys and girls, between the ages of 9-19.

Choices Program (AFL)  
 

Program Description
The Choices program
integrates health education into the Elementary program which is run after school at the neighborhood centers. Children participate in 20 weeks of health education. Topics covered include self-esteem, nutrition, safety, violence prevention, conflict resolution, the environment, communication skills, disease prevention, AIDS awareness and sexual health. Children also participate in recreational
activities and field trips.

Eligibility
This program serves children ages 5-12.

Healthy Options for Teens (HOT)  
 

Program Description
Teens attend weekly
health education workshops and participate in youth development and recreational activities. This program attempts to build assets in youth and help them feel a sense of "connectedness" to their community and to others.

Eligibility
Serves youth ages 13-19.
