Program Description
Children ages 9-15 years and their families participate in an instructional and recreational program at several after school neighborhood locations in the city of Syracuse. Choices Enhanced is a demonstration project evaluated by Syracuse University and funded thorough the Department of Health and Human Services. Both youth and their parents/guardians have an opportunity to participate in the program jointly through family nights, and individually through parent workshops and youth workshops. Topics covered include positive communication, refusal skills, abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, sex and other drugs, healthy relationships, emotional and physical development of adolescents and sexually transmitted infections.
