Message from the Executive Director

Dear Friends,

At Toomey Residential and Community Services, we serve people with special needs. Some are developmentally disabled, some have severe emotional distress, and some simply need a family. All the people we serve have unique gifts and the individual capacity to function at the best level possible.

Our agency oversees 7 residential programs in Onondaga County and employs 160 people. Up to 35 foster homes operate under the agency’s supervision at any given time. I speak for all of our employees when I say that we believe wholeheartedly in the work we do to care for those who need us. Without Toomey Residential, some of our clients would have no other place to go.

  • “Matt” has come a long way. Now 9 years old, Matt came to us when he was 7. A severe bi-polar disorder made it impossible for him to stay at home, where he was a danger to himself and others. At our Children’s Community Residence, Matt receives daily therapeutic intervention to help him control his behavior and communicate his frustrations in words.
  • “Dorothy” is 23, and lives in one of our Intermediate Care Facilities. She benefits from 24-hour supervision and extensive clinical support for her developmental disabilities.

Both Matt and Dorothy live in safe, secure homes. We are proud to care for them and the other 128 individuals in our programs.

Blessings to you,

Judy D’Amore
Executive Director
