Program Description
Provides intensive, comprehensive and flexible therapeutic and case management services for families to enhance parental/child bonding. Therapy provided through individual, family and group sessions. Service includes assessment and direct service with an early childhood education specialist. Outcomes include preventing adult’s psychiatric hospitalization, child’s foster care placement, and children are developmentally on target.
Eligibility
Families with children birth to 5 years old where one or both of the parents have a history of chronic mental illness. Parents mental illness must be primary diagnosis, if dual diagnosis present. The program prioritizes pregnant women and families with children 3 years old or younger. Family must reside within Onondaga County. Children can be served at home or at child care centers.
Payment
None for therapy. There must be a source of daycare funding for child care separate from Better Beginnings.
