Ethnic Outreach Workers           (3 openings)

This is a Part Time position, 17.5  hours per week, Monday –Friday 9am to 12:30pm OR  1pm to 4:30pm, occasional evenings and weekends.

Position Responsibilities: Reporting to the Refugee Youth Case Manager the outreach workers assist refugee children and families identified as having adjustment difficulties or mental health needs.  Provide outreach to identified ethnic communities.  Interpret for meetings, mental health assessments, and home visits.  Provide case work activities as directed by the Refugee Youth Case Manager.

Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:  High School Diploma or equivalent and experience working with youth & diverse individuals, especially refugee populations or an equivalent combination of overseas education and experience required. Bilingual in English and at least one of the following languages; French, Somali, Swahili, Burmese, Karen, Karenni, Nepali, Arabic.

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: Valid N.Y.S. Drivers License, registered and insured vehicle, Criminal History Check.

Skills/Abilities: Oral and written communication skills.
