Catholic Charities of Onondaga County Golf Tournament to Benefit Bishop Foery Foundation - hosted by Larry King

The Catholic Charities of Onondaga County Golf Tournament to Benefit Bishop Foery Foundation will be held on Monday, September 13th, at The Pompey Club in Pompey, NY. The tournament will benefit the Bishop Foery Foundation, one of the five neighborhood centers offering programs for children operated by Catholic Charities of Onondaga County. Registration for the “captain and crew” tournament will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a shotgun tee-off at noon. Singles, twosomes, and threesomes will be matched into foursomes whenever possible. The $125 entry fee includes greens fees and golf cart, unlimited hotdogs and hamburgers, beverages, and a steak dinner buffet as well as awards and prizes.

Brady Awards Presentation

The Brady Awards are presented each year in memory of Monsignor Charles J. Brady,
known for his dedication and advocacy for people in the Syracuse community. Brady Award recipients are selected on the basis of humanitarian concern for others, leadership, creativity, and responsiveness to individual and community needs. Awards include: the Bernard J. Lawler Leadership Award, the Marty Cuddy Award, the Parish Award, the C. Walter Driscoll Award, and the Monsignor Charles J. Brady Award.

Adoption Services - National Adoption Month


The purpose of National Adoption Month is to celebrate children and families, raise awareness of the 126,000 children in foster care waiting for permanent families, and urge the nation to ensure the safety, permanency, and well-being for all of our children. To carry this mission, Adoption Services of Catholic Charities of Onondaga County takes part in a number of efforts to promote available adoption services and programs.

25th Annual House of Providence Dinner

For over 80 years, For over 80 years, Catholic Charities of Onondaga County has been a light shining through, helping local families and children when they need it most. As a leading provider of services for the most vulnerable members of our community, we are a trusted friend to those in need. From adoption assistance to services for the elderly, our continuum of services touches all ages and stages of life. We operate shelters for the homeless, serve meals to the hungry, and offer a vast array of programs and support services for children and their families. Proceeds from the annual House of Providence dinner will be used wherever need is greatest.

The Event

Upwards of 600 guests
Upwards of 600 guests will attend the House of Providence Dinner, to be held Wednesday evening, May 19, 2010 at the Main Ballroom, The Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center at OnCenter. The event opens at 5:30 PM with a cocktail reception followed by dinner at 7:00 PM.

The Awards

The President’s Medallion honors individuals who, through their voluntary contributions, have immeasurably enhanced Catholic Charities of Onondaga County and the community. These individuals exhibit a devotion to the betterment of the human condition, and a concern for others, as well as vision and leadership in their contributions.  Elizabeth Hartnett will receive the President’s Medallion.

The Bishop’s Medallion honors individuals who, through their care are devoted to actively serving people of the Diocese. Through their vocation and voluntary pursuits, they have lived as a model of service to others. This award stands as a testimony to their devotion and commitment to others. The Bishop’s Medallion will be bestowed upon Father Fred Mannara.

The Humanitarian Service Medallion honors individuals who have the consistent desire to improve the human condition through a life of service to others, both personally and professionally. Their spirit of concern for others coupled with their substantial and long-standing commitment to meeting human service needs is recognized with this award. The Humanitarian Service Medallion honors Joseph Tesori.

Tables of ten are available for $1,500; individual reservations for $150. Sponsorships start at $1,000 Journal advertisements are available from $150.
