Individual gifts are crucial to the work that Catholic Charities does in Onondaga County. While we receive funding from all levels of government, the United Way and the Catholic Diocese, it does not come close to covering the cost of the many services we provide. Contributions from private citizens are crucial to our mission.
One point to consider when deciding what charity to donate to is: Where does the money go? How much is spent on administrative costs and how much goes directly to the people who need help? We are proud to report that 91% of every dollar we receive goes straight to our programs and services. Only 9% is allocated for administrative costs, far below the national not-for-profit average of 17%. You can feel confident that your contribution will make a difference.
We are known for excellence and innovation in addressing society's most pressing issues such as poverty, homelessness, unemployment, child abuse, senior housing and assisting those with developmental disabilities.
