Parent Aide  
   

Program Description
Provides intensive home visitors to families whose children are at risk
of or placed in foster care. Through weekly visits and 24 hour telephone availability parent aides coach, model and instruct parents so that they learn basic living and parenting skills. Parents receiving the service can participate in Anger Management. Other components include securing/providing transportation, and supervising visitation between parents and their children in foster care. Outcomes include parents maintain a hazard free home, parents demonstrate improved parenting skills and reduce parents’ isolation.

Eligibility
Families, where child abuse/neglect has occurred or is likely to occur, are living in Onondaga County. Family must be involved with Children’s Division. Referring case manager provides a clear purpose of service.
